I have seen a lot of people complaining about emails from Spotify telling friends from Facebook have joined Spotify.

Here is how to stop this:

Go to your Spotify profile page and set “Send me email when Friends from Facebook join Spotify” to Never.

And while your there you can change the settings of the other notifications to your liking.
